If you haven’t glanced over the programme for the 2012 Social Media conference – now would be a great time! We’ve recently added a few great speakers to the programme:
Ian McNairn, Program Director Innovation & Social Collaboration for IBM, will join us in Amsterdam on Thursday, May 3rd, to give a presentation entitled “Beyond E-Mail: Moving Professional Networks Online.”
Since 1997, IBM has actively encouraged its employees to engage with the world wide web, beginning advancements in bridging new connections online while many were encouraging employees to stay away from such activities.
Ian wrote an article for our partner magazine Communication Director magazine in 2010. You can read more about Ian’s experiences with social media from his artlce here, or hear more from Ian directly at our conference in May.

Remember augmented reality? Arguably the most technologically impressive trend in social media is about to become a thing of the past. Enter: Google Glasses.
Reported on by the New York Times and NPR If the technology is feasible, these Google specs are poised to take the most buzz-worthy trends of the past few years: augmented reality, mobile apps, online games, etc. and smash them together into a hands-free, real-time experience. And they’re affordable. NPR says they will be running between €190 and €450 ($250 and $600).
“Retailers and brands have begun to regard Pinterest as a new way to interact with consumers and potential shoppers. West Elm, Whole Foods, Nordstrom, Bergdorf Goodman and Real Simple magazine are among those posting things on the site.“
Haven’t heard about this yet? Read New York Times reporter Jenna Wortham’s (@jennydeluxe) article on the genius of pinterest here.
